Notary Public
Notary Public services are an important part of ensuring the integrity of legal documents and transactions in California. By verifying identities and witnessing signatures, notaries help to prevent fraud and protect the interests of all parties involved.
I offer a range of notary services to help you with your important documents.
Core Notarial Acts (These are the most common services):
- Acknowledgment: This is like saying, “Yes, I signed this, and I know what it means.” I’ll check your ID, watch you sign, and complete a form that confirms it.
- Jurat: This is for when you need to swear or affirm that something in a document is true. I’ll administer the oath and watch you sign.
- Oaths and Affirmations: Need to swear to something in court or for another legal purpose? I can administer the oath or affirmation.
- Proof of Execution: Sometimes, I can verify that a document was signed by getting sworn statements from people who saw it happen.
Other Services I Can Provide:
- Certified Copies: I can only certify copies of a Power of Attorney or copies of my own notary journal (and only if a court or the Secretary of State asks me to). I can’t certify copies of other documents.
- Witnessing Signatures: I can witness your signature on a document. This is often part of the notarization process.
- Fingerprinting: For some documents, like in real estate deals, I can take your fingerprints as an extra way to confirm your identity.
Important Things to Know:
- I cannot give legal advice. I’m a notary, not a lawyer. If you need legal advice, please talk to an attorney.
- I can’t notarize anything if I have a personal stake in it. I have to be neutral.
- I can only notarize complete documents. Everything needs to be filled in before you bring it to me. No blank forms!
